Cefn Albion raises over £1,000 for local lad Emyr Hughes

On Sunday the 18th and the 25th of December players, management, and supporters connected to Cefn Albion football club all got together for the annual Christmas Jumper get-together and the Billy Evans and Pauline Griffiths Christmas quiz. Both events were organised by fundraiser Nick Jones and were in aid of local lad Emyr Hughes, the two events took place at the Cefn Club.

We are absolutely delighted to announce that between both events we have raised £1076, this will all be handed over to Emyr. We just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who came out to support both events, your support and generosity mean the world to us and we are so grateful for your all kindness. We hope that you all had a great time, and we appreciate your help in making a difference for a young man who needs it most.

Thank you to Stewart Roberts of Regional Property Maintenance who donated £250 and Tommy Evans of BT Groundworks & Civils also pledged £50. A special thank you to those who donated prizes for the raffles, we have been inundated with amazing prizes which meant that we held the longest raffle draw in the history of the Cefn Mawr Community Social Club. Finally a special thank you to Angela Walker and Sue and Matthew Hughes (Em's parents) who made delicious baps and sausage rolls that feed the entire club. Amazing Support that capped two great days!

Christmas Jumper day winners

Congratulations to Jack Richards (Nudge) and Paul Griffiths (Munch) who were crowned the winners of the pool and congratulations to Nick Jones and the Goog who were crowned the darts winners! A trophy was awarded but we only managed to get a picture of the pool winners (sorry)

Christmas Quiz winners

Congratulations to The Texas Canadians who won the quiz, Mark Gibbins, Leon Arthur, Matthew Hughes (Manu), Dion Gibbins (goog) and the man himself... Emyr Hughes! The team is pictured.

Everyone who worked hard to organize and participate in these events we thank you immensely. It's because of you we have been able to come together and raise funds for a much-needed local cause! There is only one winner and that's Emyr Hughes. Merry Christmas Em and we wish you well in 2023.

Cefn Albion chairman Stewart Roberts said "It was fantastic to see so many people in attendance at these events helping to support a young man and his family who have close very ties to our football club. Em and his family have shown tremendous support towards Cefn Albion since we formed so it feels good that we could give a little something back in what has been a tough time for them. A big thank you to everyone who has made this happen, these days really epitomise what our football club is all about and we look forward to supporting Em in any way we can moving forward. Thank you!"
