Following promotion from division one last season we knew that life in the premier division would be tough but as a team we felt that there would be enough heart, desire and togetherness to pull us through fixtures when required. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough of this on display during our home encounter with table topping Queens Park and as a result we were on the receiving end of another big defeat going down 1-8.

As expected a big crowd turned up for this much anticipated fixture and it was the away supporters who were first to cheer after seeing their team take the lead on the 10 minute mark following a couple of early threatening attacks. Just five minutes later things got worse for the Albion and the home support when a quickly taken free kick caught many of the lads napping as they were still arguing with the referee about the decision and the winger made no mistake placing the ball over Joe Davies in the goal.

For the next twenty minutes the game settled down a little but in truth it was the away team who posed most threat going forward and looked the most likely to score. However, on the 35 minute mark after a few Cefn attacks our leading goal scorer Oliver Davies found the net after the away goal keep appeared to fumble the ball which eventually ended up in the net. Although this raised the team and give the large crowd on the Muga bank something to cheer it would turn out to be nothing but a consolation. Just 5 minutes later the away team made it 1-3 after picking up on a second ball and on the stroke of half time it was 1-4.

The second half display was quite similar to the first where apart from a few rare Albion attacks in particular a good effort from substitute Andrew Jones the away team always posed the most threat and looked the most likely to score. At 1-5 down things got worse for the Albion when goal keep Joe Davies was forced off through injury and with no substitute keeper outfielder player Nic Jones took the gloves and went in goal. The away team went on to score three more goals to make the final score line 1-8.

There is no doubt that with the team that Queens Park have they will be up there come the end of the season but the lads know that with a bit more heart, desire and togetherness in the team we could have made things more difficult for them. We will learn from yesterday’s performance and attempt to put things right on the training ground this week in preparation for Saltney Town Away next week. A big response is required!
