The first team travelled to Gladstone playing fields today to take on Hawarden Rangers. Confidence was high and the lads were looking to continue a fine run of league form.

In all fairness to both teams the first half was quite a tight affair but full credit to our lads they tried to play football on a poor pitch. The team were frustrating the hosts and a perfect script was executed when Jamie Foulkes capped a fine first half performance with a strike to match 0-1 HT

To be fair to the home team they come out second half and set the tempo asking questions right from the off. Their efforts were rewarded and during a 10-15 minute collapse which saw them score three goals to turn the tie completely around. The lads pushed for a way back in but couldn't find a goal that would have set up an interesting last 10 minutes.

Hawarden is a tough place to visit but the team had a real opportunity to collect something from the fixture. After going behind it was good to see them pushing for a way back into the game but if truth be told they shouldn’t have been in that position and on another day we could have walked away with all three points.
