Today the lads took a break from the league and were on Welsh Trophy cup duty as we welcomed Welsh Alliance Division two outfit Penmaenmawr Pheonix to the Rock. As Cefn Druids also had a home fixture the game was scheduled for an 18:00 kick off.

The lads wasted no time and were quick out the traps applying good early pressure on the visitor’s goal. After only five minutes on the clock the excellent start was rewarded when a Jimmy Jones corner was met by Sean Jones at the far post to put the Cefner one up. Shortly after some excellent football was well finished by Conner Kendrick to make it 2-0 within 10 minutes. From this moment on it was one way traffic and the lads were camped in the Penmaenmawr half looking to increase the score line. The visitors were really struggling to cope with the passing and movement of Cefn Albion who are now really starting to adapt to life at the Rock. Further goals from Jimmy Jones an own goal and Conner Kendrick grabbing three to make it four for him had the lads in a commanding lead heading into half time. The defence will be disappointed to have conceded a sloppy goal. 7-1 HT.

In the second half, the visitors, with nothing to lose started to ask a few questions and a complacent Cefn Albion who seemingly took the foot off the gas had some rare defending to do. With a good amount of damage done in the first half and the game pretty much out of sight Wacky used all three of his substitutes early. It witnessed Oliver Davies, Sean Jones and Andrew Jones making way for Kien Morris, Alex Williams and Aaron Holman. If truth be told the game become a bit stale and the tempo from the lads had dropped considerably and the change in attitude meant that Penmaenmawr pulled two goals back which reduced the deficit somewhat. Substitute Alex Williams got on the scoresheet to make it eight. A comfortable win for the lads which sees us into round four of the trophy.

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came and supported the game, it was an excellent gate considering it was Saturday night and the weather was atrocious. As always you backed the boys and spurred them on to a good victory.
