Deano embracing Comet

Most will be well aware of the recent FAW pyramid restructure that was introduced for the new 2019/20 season and also the introduction of a new football management system called “Comet” that came with these changes. Currently being used by over forty other nations Comet is a system believed to be well proven.

With the introduction of Comet, it would change the way clubs and the FAW operate and communicate on goings such as player registration, league fixtures, match official appointments and electronic team sheets as well as many other useful administration tools.

With many of our hardworking volunteers, by their own admission ‘not very confident’ working with computers, like many others we were a little apprehensive with how it may affect personal at our club. However, right from the very beginning we must stress that we were 100% behind the change and determined to embrace the new ways to help improve Welsh football.

We have many hard-working individuals who all play their part at the football club but with regards to Comet we want to give a special mention to our fantastic secretary Dean Morris who has worked tirelessly throughout the summer to learn the new system and processes involved, he is now completely comfortable with it all and thanks to his efforts we currently have 37 CONFIRMED player registrations, all management, coaches and various helpers submitted, PayPal integrated and all entries into competitions PAID. Since the initial training, held at the Catrin Finch Centre in Wrexham a couple of months ago, Morris has come a long way ‘in the world of computers’ and the football club can’t thank him enough for all his efforts. Let’s not forget this has all been achieved alongside many other clubs on goings and also his usual duties such as arranging sponsors for two new kits, track suits and getting them processed through Macron. Whilst we have all been enjoying our summer break, alongside our fantastic chairman Haydn Evans, it’s been a very busy summer for Deano! Until you experience what it's like behind the scenes you wont realise how much there is to do! As with all the volunteers at the club we appreciate your effort which ensures we are ready for the new season

Finally, we would like to thank the FAW Comet team for their excellent training sessions, active email responses and for all the updated user guides that have been made available, everything has been clear and concise which has made the transition a whole lot easier. Thank you!
